| Confidence intervals are based on 95% certainity that respondents will answer between the + or - range for that answer using the current sample population. For example, if you have had 9 respondents answer a satisfaction rating question and 44% answered "UnSatisfactory", then we can be certain 95% of the time that + or - 32% (above and below 44%) or between 12 and 76% of the remaining respondents will answer this way. The greater your sample population (in this case 9 respondents), the tighter your confidence interval will be. | |
